Beyoncé : The Living Legend

img_2365Surely, every person in America has had time to adequately digest the history that was made on Saturday night, early Sunday morning by none other The Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter! Let me add the disclaimer: YES I AM APART OF THE BEYHIVE! IF YOU COME FOR THE QUEEN AND/OR THE BEYHIVE YOU WILL BE STUNG! Now that you have been forewarned,acs_0003 let me start by saying, Coachella 2018, I mean Beychella 2018 was the most monumental musical performance I have witnessed since Beyonce’s 2016 Superbowl performance!
If you are not affiliated with the Beyhive or do not care for Beyonce, her 2018 Coachella performance should have drastically changed your mind. Beyonce has had a very strong run in her career, 22 years to be exact! Each and every time she performs drops new music, and so forth, she surpasses what she has done previously. Yes, working her peers and certainly us regular folks. You must have a certain level of passion and heart to be so critically of yourself that you will not stop until it is right. I guess with her being a fellow Virgo, you could not expect less.
Why is Beychella 2018 such a huge thing? acs_0001For Beyonce, Beychella 2018 is a huge accomplishment because Beyonce is the first African American (Melanin) Woman to EVER headline this predominantly Caucasian concert. In 2017, Beyonce was set to headline Coachella but due to her high-risk pregnancy, she could not perform. However, this past weekend she did not disappoint. The symbolism placed in her performance is everything. To take this mainstream Caucasian concert and pay homage to the African American descent is something that people will talk about for years to come. Being again that she was the first African American woman to headline Coachella, Beyonce wore the colors yellow and black. Symbolism: The colors of the Beyhive but also the colors of the fraternity Alphas, the first black fraternity. In addition to the colors, Beyonce opened the show in Egyptian wear–from head to toe. Performance: During the performance, Beyonce had 100 back dancers with her who did not disappoint. She had a full band and back up dancers who provided a Historic Black College/University feel to the performance. Beyonce sang a poem set to music “Lift Every Voice and Sing” which is also known as the black national anthem. The moments that truly brought pure joy to my face is the moment in which Destiny’s Child performed a list of their hits, her husband Jay-Z performed with her and she brought her sister, Solange, on stage to dance with her. During the performance, Beyonce stated “Thank you for allowing me to be the first Black woman to headline Coachella. Ain’t that bout a bitch” *drops mic* img_2359
Overall, Beyonce’s 2018 Coachella’s performance has taught me some very valuable lessons! Dedicate yourself to your work, strive to be better than your previous work, stay humble, outwork yourself but truly love what you do!
Beyonce you are truly the epitome of a kind soul! Your strong work ethic, your humbleness, your kindness, your love for your family and friends but most importantly your authenticity to your art.
